Job Title: Education Programs Coordinator
Department: Education
Reports To: Director of Education
FLSA Status: Exempt

PURPOSE OF JOB:The Education Programs Coordinator oversees the education programs team, including the creation and delivery of school outreach and field trip programs as well as community outreach including adult programs and festivals. The Education Programs Coordinator ensures the showcasing and usage of the natural, educational, and human resources of the Conservancy to create, deliver and evaluate high quality student, teacher and community environmental education programs, meeting the Conservancy’s mission.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Coordinate education team of staff, interns, and volunteers.
• Oversee and deliver school and adult education programs including outreach, field trips/tours, festivals, and teacher workshops.
• Oversee program and curriculum development for education program offerings.
• Co-develop and serve as camp supervisor for Conservancy Camp programs.
• Develop and foster partnerships with local school districts, colleges, and other environmental and community organizations.
• Assist in the development and management of education programs budget
• Oversee maintenance of program materials/spaces.
• Assist with coordination of the Conservancy’s STEM Institute.
• Support with the hiring, training and evaluation of education interns.
• Assist in the oversight of program assessment and evaluation, and track and report related data.
• Develop and deliver pre and post program resources for teachers.
• Provide support to volunteer groups that support with educational programs. Assist with grant proposal development, grant project coordination, and grant reports.
• Coordinate with marketing team on promotional materials to support education programs.
• Participate in organizational special events outside of the department.
• Participate in professional associations. Certifications related to environmental education, museums, nature centers, interpretation or live collections.
• Deliver excellent customer service, internally and externally.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Strong commitment to the conservation of Florida’s natural environment
• Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience developing and delivering informal science education curriculum / programs
• Experience with Next Generation Science Standards and/or Next Generation Sunshine State Standards
• Experience with program assessment / evaluation to achieve learning outcome goals
• Experience in coordinating staff, interns, and volunteers
• Experience training staff, interns, and volunteers in basic local natural history and interpretation
• Strong organization, communication, time management, and leadership skills
• Excellent writing and teaching skills
• Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with individuals of diverse interests and backgrounds
• Knowledge of South Florida’s natural environment
• Ability to work with diverse groups of people
• Proficient with all Microsoft Office programs.

• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Willingness to work outside and conduct programs in the evenings, weekends, and holidays in sometimes hot, humid, and buggy conditions

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
• Current Certification in CPR, First Aid, and Life Saving, or ability to obtain.
• Valid driver license and good driving record.
