Job Title: Seasonal Wildlife Hospital Support Assistant

Job Overview
As a Seasonal Wildlife Hospital Support Assistant, you will play a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our animal enclosures and hospital facilities, and provide support to the wildlife hospital team.

Responsibilities
Wildlife Rehabilitation:
o Clean and maintain outdoor animal enclosures, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for the native wildlife undergoing rehabilitation.
o Prepare diets for birds, mammals and reptiles undergoing rehabilitation.
o Assist with animal feedings, providing fresh water and prepared diets as needed.
o Monitor grazing gopher tortoises, as needed.
o Help with ad-hoc jobs as needed, such as assisting staff and interns setting up outdoor enclosures for recovering wildlife, and assisting with keeping supplies and materials organized.
o Work within all safety protocols when entering an animal enclosure, and following processes/procedures to perform work functions safely.
o Assists with ad-hoc wildlife hospital assistance.
o Performs basic administrative functions of the vAWH.
o General facilities upkeep.
o Assist interns in completing daily rehab tasks.

Education and Experience
• Must have a passion for wildlife and conservation
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform manual labor tasks
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Willingness to learn and take direction from wildlife team members
• Must work within all safety protocols set by the wildlife hospital and organization.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Skills and Abilities
• Proficiency in reading, analyzing, and interpreting business documents, technical procedures, and regulations.
• Strong report writing and business correspondence skills.
• Effective presentation and communication abilities with diverse groups.
• Aptitude for working with mathematical concepts, including probability, statistics, and geometry.
• Application of mathematical concepts to practical situations, including fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
• Problem-solving skills for addressing non-standardized situations.
• Interpretation of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and computer databases.
• Excellent communication skills and adept at managing multiple priorities continuously.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
