PURPOSE OF JOB: The Mobile Classroom Coordinator oversees the Conservancy’s STEM Learning Adventure Bus (LAB) mobile classroom program, including the development and delivery of in- and after-school curricula, summer outreach, and participation in community events and festivals. The Mobile Classroom Coordinator ensures that the natural, educational, technological, and human resources of the Conservancy are showcased on the STEM LAB via hands-on, immersive environmental education programs designed to be delivered directly to communities throughout Southwest Florida.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Coordinate, oversee, and deliver mobile classroom outreach programs
• Drive the mobile classroom to outreach sites, community events, and an off-site storage facility
• Oversee program and curriculum development for educational mobile classroom programs
• Coordinate and oversee cross-departmental maintenance and troubleshooting of the mobile classroom and related technology
• Co-develop, supervise, and deliver mobile classroom-led Conservancy Summer Camp programs
• Develop and foster partnerships with local schools and school districts, as well as environmental and community organizations throughout Southwest Florida
• Assist in the development, implementation, and management of Education operational plan and budget
• Coordinate and/or lead mobile classroom tours and appearances at community events, festivals, and fairs
• Support the hiring, training and evaluation of education interns
• Assist in the development and implementation of mobile classroom program assessment and evaluation, and track and report related data
• Develop and deliver pre and post program resources for teachers and community partners
• Assist with grant proposal development, grant project coordination, and grant reports
• Coordinate with marketing team on promotional materials to support education programs
• Participate in organizational special events outside of the department
• Participate in professional associations and certifications related to mobile classrooms, environmental education, museums, nature centers, interpretation or live collections
• Deliver excellent customer service, internally and externally
• Other duties as assigned
• Bachelor's degree in ecology, science, education or a related field from four-year college or university; two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience• Strong commitment to the conservation of Florida’s ecosystems and natural resources
• Experience developing and delivering informal place-based science education curriculum / programs
• Experience with Next Generation Science Standards and/or Next Generation Sunshine State Standards
• Experience with program assessment / evaluation to achieve learning outcome goals
• Experience in coordinating staff, interns, and volunteers
• Experience training staff, interns, and volunteers in basic local natural history and interpretation
• Strong organization, communication, time management, and leadership skills
• Excellent teaching and writing skills
• Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with individuals of diverse interests and backgrounds
• Comfort with driving or being trained to drive a large (39 foot) non-CDL vehicle
• Knowledge of South Florida’s flora, fauna, and ecosystems
• Knowledge of watersheds, storm water science, and the threats facing Florida’s salt- and freshwater systems
• Experience with place-based learning outside of a classroom environment
• Knowledge, proficiency, and an interest in creating and facilitating science-based art activities for diverse audiences
• Proficiency with operating a variety of outreach-related technology and tools including but not limited to: microscopes and slides, iPads, and Chromebooks
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite

• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Willingness to work outside and conduct programs in the evenings, weekends, and holidays in sometimes hot, humid, and buggy conditions
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
• Current Certification in CPR, First Aid, and Life Saving, or ability to obtain.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Special vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, and depth perception.
Work Environment: The employee is regularly exposed to wet and humid conditions and outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
