INTERNSHIP- Summer Camp

Naples, FL

DESCRIPTION: Join our dynamic team as a Summer Camp Intern and embark on an exciting journey of learning and growth! As an intern, you'll play a role in creating memorable experiences for campers while gaining invaluable skills and experiences yourself. Help teach a variety of science and ecological programs, both on and off-site during an intensive 4-week environmental summer camp. Assist our Lead Staff Counselors with program trips, care of campers before and after camp, and program delivery to second through eighth grades. Lead games, crafts, and field trips to area wildlife locations such as beaches, swamps, and parks. Summer camp interns will also assist in delivering outreach programs using the Conservancy’s STEM Learning Adventures Bus (LAB), a mobile classroom designed to bring hands-on science fun to the community.

Essential Duties: 

  • Assist lead staff counselors with program activities
  • Foster a safe and inclusive environment where campers can learn, explore, and build friendships.
  • Assist supervising campers and manage behavior
  • Assists in planning age-appropriate activities for campers
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and ongoing professional development opportunities.
  • Serve as a responsible counselor and positive role model for campers.

Education and/or experience:

  • Applicant must be at least a senior in college with an academic background in science, education or comparable discipline.
  • Teaching experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong commitment to environmental education and conservation.
  • Good communication, public, speaking, and leadership skills.
  • Enthusiasm for working with children and a passion for outdoor education.
  • Gain hands-on experience in youth development, leadership, and teamwork.
  • Enhance your communication and problem-solving skills through interaction with campers and fellow staff members.
  • Develop leadership abilities by assisting in the planning and execution of camp programs.
  • Build lasting friendships and connections with a diverse group of peers and mentors.
  • Enjoy the scenic beauty of our camp location and take advantage of outdoor recreational activities during downtime.
  • Willing to work outside in, hot, humid, and sometimes buggy conditions.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and work outdoors in hot, humid, and sometimes buggy conditions. 

Certifications

  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • CPR, First Aid Certified
  • Lifeguard certification preferred, but not required

$300 bi-weekly pay. Housing Provided. Summer Internship (Late May- Early August).
