Job Title: Volunteer Coordinator
Salary Range: $58,000 to $60,800
Reports to: Chief Programs Officer

MISSION: For more than 50 years, the Conservancy of Southwest Florida has been a leading environmental advocacy organization dedicated to protecting Southwest Florida's water, land, wildlife, and future.

JOB OVERVIEW: The Volunteer Coordinator leads the Conservancy’s volunteer engagement strategy, managing recruitment, training, placement, and retention to support the organization’s mission. This role ensures volunteers have a meaningful, mission-aligned experience and are effectively integrated across departments. The Volunteer Coordinator also fosters a welcoming, inclusive environment where volunteers feel valued, informed, and connected to the Conservancy’s mission and community.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Program Operations
• Develop and lead strategic and operational goals for the Volunteer Program, ensuring alignment with the Conservancy’s mission and goals.
• Cultivate positive, ongoing relationships with volunteers, ensuring that each individual feels recognized, supported, and connected to the orginzation's impact. 
• Serve as a primary point of contact for volunteer communication and engagement; maintain regular and meaningful interaction to build trust and community.
• Design and lead recognition efforts that authentically reflects volunteers' contributions and deepen their connection to the Conservancy. 
• Work with staff and leadership to promote a culture that values volunteerism and fosters strong cross-functional collaboration between staff and volunteers.
• Solicit and incorporate volunteer feedback to inform program improvements and reinforce a culture of continuous engagement.
• Collaborate with department leaders to identify volunteer needs and create meaningful service opportunities that enhance program effectiveness.
• Implement systems for evaluating and continuously improving volunteer services and experiences .
• Create, maintain, and regularly update volunteer policies, procedures, position descriptions, and records.
• Coordinate volunteer recruitment campaigns using diverse platforms and partnerships.
• Oversee the screening, onboarding,and placement process in collaboration with HR to match volunteers' skills with organizational needs .
• Design and deliver volunteer training and orientation; support staff in effective volunteer supervision.
• Address and mediate volunteer-related challenges and implement appropriate resolution strategies.
• Regularly evaluate volunteer contributions and program outcomes; implement improvements as needed.
• Design and lead meaningful recognition and appreciation activities.
Community Outreach & Speaker Coordination 
•  Implement an outreach strategy that increases community awareness and support for the Conservancy's mission and volunteer opportunities.
• Develop and maintain a speaker's bureau; train staff and volunteers to deliver community presentations.
• Serve as a public representative of the organization at speaking engagements and outreach events.
• Track and evaluate outreach requests, engagements, and audience impact.
 Program Evaluation & Reporting
• Develop and manage annual budgets for the volunteer and outreach programs. 
• Prepare annual reports evaluating the effectiveness, reach, and impact of volunteer and outreach efforts .
Organizational Support
• Collaborate with the Development team on member engagement, special events, and promotional opportunities.
• Participate in organization-wide initiatives and support additional duties as assigned.
• Other duties, as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Associates degree in nonprofit management, public relations, human services, or related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in volunteer, management, community engagement, or program coordination.
• Previous supervisory experience and/or experience in an environmental or mission-driven organization preferred. 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
•Strong interpersonal and public speaking skills; ability to engage diverse audiences.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to design, implement, and evaluate volunteer programs and outreach initiatives.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with volunteer or CRM software a plus .
• Demonstrated leadership, team-building, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
• Passion for environmental conservation and the mission of the Conservancy.
• Available to work Saturday's, as needed.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS
• Valid driver's license and good driving record.
